'Q' - Music Magazine Cover Analysis

From the front cover of this magazine it instantly gives it away that it is a music magazine. You can see that from one of the worlds best singers - Madonna, being publicized on the front. Q shows her to be pale white faced, doing that to attract the readers eye from the contrasting background. Also with Madonna being a well known singer, having the main shot of her in the fore ground will draw people in even more, especially noticing her stylish jacket and gloves.

Drifting down the right hand side, the magazine presents a small round logo stating about the 'Best British Albums' this is shown up in colours of the Union Jack to show the relevance of Best British Albums with the colour of the background behind it - blue, red and white which is British. This attracts peoples eye because it is layed upon Madonna's dark jacket.

Across the bottom is a small advertisement, this is used to attract the people that love their music. Desired to draw them in so they pick the magazine up and then they end up reading it all. In the centre of the page the magazine uses bold red writing to present Madonnas name, this could influence the importance because of the fiery character she is.

For this magazine the back ground is one of the main components that makes it stand out so well to all the rest. Its a dark, jet black to entice people so they will pick the magazine up. In the top left hand corner you can see the logo for 'Q', this is a simple but strong feature of the magazine because its a plain red and stands out and always catched the readers eye.

'Vibe' - Music Magazine Cover Analysis

Looking at the cover of this magazine you can see that it mainly contains Hip Hop and R 'n' B genre's to attract the urban followers, hence - the singing star 'Chris Brown'.

Starting from the top of the cover you can see that it has a big bold title to get the attention of the audience because it stands out against the dark background and it is written is big block capitals. Although, you can see that Chris Browns head covers part of it to show that the magazine has confidence to not show the whole title.

Down the right hand side it uses two different colours, compared to the theme, so this grabs the readers attention. The green words could suggest that they are important topics so it makes the readers feel as though they have to read it because its what stands out to them.

The t-shirt that Chris Brown is wearing is bright red so it shows up against the bland stone wall background to suggest the importance of the singer to the magazine. And because he is one of the 'ladies favourites' it will instantly attract them to this particular magazine. The picture of Chris Brown is a full on picture, it is not taken from the side and this can once again show the importance of him to this magazine.

In the bottom left hand corner, just above the bar code, you can see that two contrasting colours have been put together to give it an eye catching effect. As the magazine has used the name of a well known singer, it is put in bold and the font is made bigger than the rest because it will draw the attention of the readers, especially the younger generation.
