Here are the results I collected after asking what I could change/improve from my previous contents page.

• The title
• The pictures are all colourful and the title is straight and doesnt look as though it's going from big to small
• Its good but its missing something above the black and white picture. Don't know what
• Dont use the rock you socks and change the title. The font for the writing is good.

This was one of the magazines that I created that was in contension of being my final one. I used some of the techniques from the other ones and from the templates. I will be asking my peers what they think I could improve and then I will be creating another contents page that will hopefully be even better.

The reasons why I chose these effects were because I thought the effect of having the pictures behind the writing made the writing stand out even more so people would be more inclined to read it. The font of the title was chosen because it had the destroyed effect of hard rock so I thought it related quite well with the main genre of the magazine.

This is my second template for my contents page. Through out creating the contents page I have been quite stuck on how to present it and what to use for my final product. Here are the ideas I thought of when thinking of what to do. I wanted to keep it plain and simple but still use the ideas what my peers thought. I have not done anything fancy/really effective to it but I think it is effective in its own way because of the way it is layed out.

After seeing the results from the questionnaire I created this template of a contents page. I used pictures of celebrities to show where my own pictures would be and I thought doing it this way would be quicker because it could show my ideas more easily and I wouldn't have to waste time in getting my own pictures.

Those features were used because it took up the whole page but wasn't too cluttered so everything was set out evenly. Also the result from the questionnaire made me realise that only using a few pictures would be more effective because it would make people want to read more to see who else would be involved.

I created 5 questions and asked 5 of my peers. The questions and answers were as follows:

• Red, Multicoloured so it stands out

My Second Attempt At The Contents Page at 13:03

This was my second attempt at the contents page. But after I finished it I realised I didn't like it and I was not going to feature it on my blog but I chose to put it on to show you the ideas I had. The main reasons why I did not like it was because I thought it was a bit too cluttered and the background did not show enough of the potential of the magazine away. The glow effect I used I thought was a bit too much by using it on each title so next time I will get some ideas from my friends and do a quick survey to see what their opinion would be.

My First Idea Using The Plan at 12:53

This was my first idea using the plan. As you can see I did not stick it and that was because I thought the plan was a bit boring after I thought about it and I wanted to experiment to get some ideas in my head ready for the next attempt.

The reason why these features were chosen was because I thought the silver background went with the black cover on the front and also the pictures were related to music as the guitar was relevant to the rock genre. All the contents are placed random on the page - this effect was chosen because I thought it would attract the readers eye and it was different to every other magazine.

Final Front Cover at 08:55

This is my final front cover. I chose this because of the results I got from the survey and my own opinion. The results for each front cover on the survey was fairly equal so I basically chose to feature this front cover because I thought it was the best one. The layout is the same as the template but the only thing that has changed is the pictures. I imported my own pictures and edited how I wanted.

The main feature is the main picture in the middle. It is of one of my friends and there is confetti and people faded in around him to illustrate what is in the magazine - inside access from tours and exclusive interviews. I think it was a good effect to use because it had multiple meanings and attracted the readers eye. The photo stream down the right hand side was chosen because it was like you could imagine a video stream scrolling down to show you who is featured in the magazine. That was the proposed effect but I know that that could not happen so I could only choose 4 pictures that it could contain. In the end I am happy with that result.

Results From Quick Survey at 08:54

After finishing off that template I wanted to go around and ask everyone which final front cover would be best. The front covers I chose and the results are summed up and shown below:

This got the following responses: The background is nice and striking, the main picture needs to be abit more rockyfied, it could be more attracive by using dark and light colours.

This front cover got the responses: Good colours to grab the readers eye because thats what it needs. The 'LEGENDS OF ROCK' needs to be more striking like the first one. The title is better than the first one because it does have multiple meanings. One of my peers said that they preferred the photo stream effect better than the 'cluttered' appearance of the people.

This front cover got told to be good and really attractive, just like the other ones. They said that the photo stream is as good as the other one and it would look good which ever way it got placed.

Overall, this questionnaire didn't really help me because each front cover got good feedback and I still couldn't decide which one was best.

After thinking about whether to use the previous magazine front cover as my final product I began to get more ideas into my head and realise I wanted to change the colours and make it more rocky. I had ideas from my other friends but I also wanted to keep some features from the previous magazine but basically just to change the colours and layout.

This magazine does consist of celebrities but I thought I would use it as a template to show what it would look like. If I was to use this as my final product I would import my pictures into it so it would be my own.

Final Front Cover #2 at 08:35

This is another one of my attempts at the final front cover. After seeing what people thought of the other one I thought I would change it and also I had more ideas in my head so I chose to create this one. The main picture and the features is the same but the only differences is the new title - XTREME ROCK, the photo stream at the bottom, the backstage pass advertisement and the new font for the features.

These were chosen because I thought the other one was a bit too cluttered and it was just simple to have a couple running along the bottom and I thought using a photo stream would be quite attracting. The advertisement was used because I had recently been looking at other music magazines and I noticed that most of them had competitions so I decided to add one to my own. XTREME ROCK - the title, was chosen because it seemed more appealing. I liked ROCK BEATZ but XTREME ROCK seemed more authentic and it said more about the magazine, like its extreme and is the best of the best.

This is one of my final front covers. I decided to change some features because I thought with it being a rock music magazine it needed to look like one. The main thing I changed was the main picture because I thought it just looked better with an actual person and after getting a few reviews from my first one and the second one it seemed right to change it.

The reason why I chose the features on this magazine was because it was relevant to the magazine and the results I got from the survey helped me to realise they would be the best choice. The faded pictures at the bottom are all of different friends of mine in bands and the background was chosen because I wanted the effect as though it was lights shining from a music gig. The title was chosen because it is something that is simple and easy to remember and sounds like a rock music magazine.

After I created different fonts and colours I thought it would be best to ask a couple of my friends for their opinions. The results are as follows:

* The favourite font for features was BIRTH OF A HERO in WHITE because it would stand out against the dark background

*The font chosen for LEGENDS OF ROCK ended up being 28 DAYS LATER and it got suggested that it had a red glow to go with the background but make the yellow writing jump out.

Whilst thinking of what to do for my final product I have decided to look at different fonts and colours to see which ones would be the best and most suitable. The pictures above show what I was experimenting with.

Second Attempt At Front Cover at 02:12

After reading the results from my questionnaire, I have decided to take a different approach to presenting my magazine. I have used pictures of famous people to illustrate how the pictures would be used and where they would be placed. I think the magazine now seems more realistic because I am using real life pictures and the background makes it stand out.

Whilst thinking about what to change about my idea I conducted a short questionnaire. I decided to do the questionnaire with about 30 people face to face rather than just leave it on here for people to fill in as I think I would forget to ask people to do it. The questionnaire was as follows:

Picture Angles Ideas at 02:38

As I said on the picture these are just some pictures I put together to look at the different angles of taking close up shots. Four of those pictures are actually celebrities and I know I cannot use them in my final piece but I thought I dont want to waste my time in taking pictures if I dont have the right idea. The main reason why I chose to use people is because I am thinking for my second final idea to use a picture of a rocker as the main feature. This is because of all the feed back I have drawn from polls and when I have asked my friends. I just thought this would help me in deciding how to take the picture and the effects it has. E.g. The picture of Hayley Williams is taken from below but it makes it look asthough its a big picture so that could emphasize that shes a good rocker and a big role model.

This is a small, quick brainstorm that I did after creating my first initial front page. The ideas are just about some little things I thought would make the magazine be even better and make it more attractive. I hope to use these ideas when starting my second attempt.

My First Idea Using The Plan at 11:32

This is my first attempt at creating my final front cover for the magazine. I tried to keep to the initial plan, which I think I managed except a few minor things. I only managed to include two pictures up the right hand side and I added a picture of a guitar next to the masterhead. I decided to do that because I thought having three pictures seemed a bit to crowded and it needed something to fill that blank space. Apart from that everything was what I said it would be but I am still going to bring some ideas together to see if I can come up with something more creative and eye catching.

This is my basic layout for my final idea. I thought I would do this to help me decide what I should include and where objects should be placed. With it being a rock music magazine I needed to include relevant things that related to it, hence why I thought using drums would be a good idea. I will be using this to produce my final idea but no doubt I will be changing things as more ideas come into my head.
